2020 was definitely the year for TikTok, providing many of us with the entertainment much needed to stay sane and connected while we spent most of our time indoors.

Home to countless viral challenges, dances and skits, TikTok has helped songs “Old Town Road” and “Savage Love” reach the top of the billboard charts.

With new trends popping up everyday, it can be hard to keep up with what’s what. We have narrowed down to the top 5 TikTok challenges of 2021 (so far) that we think you should try right now.

#BangBangBang

BIGBANG’s 2016 hit, “Bang Bang Bang”, unexpectedly resurfaced this year but this time around in a remixed version. The familiar catchy beat itself is more than enough to have the song stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

#ikoiko

“Iko Iko” was one of the many underrated songs that found its fame on TikTok. The challenge brought friends and family together in the name of it, putting everybody in high spirits as they grooved along to the beachy-vibes of the song.

#lockit

The challenge is set to the chorus of electropop song, “Unlock It” by Charlie XCX. TikTokers who were locked onto the challenge lip-synched the repetitive lyrics “lock it” while incorporating finger-gun motions into the dance.

#imbad

Featuring the old school classic, ‘Bad’ by Michael Jackson, this trend also serves as a tribute to the King of Pop. The challenge involves TikTokers recreating Michael Jackson’s classic toe stand pose at the end of the video.

#hideandseek

This fun twist to the classic childhood game of Hide and Seek sees TikTokers running away from the camera frame as soon as the timer begins. The goal is to be out of sight before the camera snaps a picture. Don’t be fooled, it’s harder than it looks.

And that wraps up our list of top TikTok challenges of 2021 (so far)! What has been some of your favorite challenges this year?
