Sumrah | Get to Know WILD Talents

Hi Sumrah, welcome to the WILD family! Please introduce yourself to our readers.

Sumrah: Hello! My name is Sumrah Jamal and I'm 21 years old. Although I was born and raised in the UK, my family is originally from Malaysia which also makes me a Malaysian! I am a content creator sharing bits of life as a Malaysian living in the UK.

What does a typical day in your week look like?

Sumrah: My days are rather simple, actually. I wake up, have breakfast, and go for a walk first thing in the morning. During the rest of the day, I just spend my time at home getting work done. I have dinner with my family in the evening, and end the day watching Korean dramas.

Who would you say was your inspiration to start your career?

Sumrah: I would say, myself. Growing up, I was a very shy and insecure girl. So, by putting myself out there, I wanted to be able to challenge myself and overcome the fears that I have. I find that vlogging is a great form of self-expression and it's nice to be able to look back on how much I have grown as a person.

What is your most memorable memory of your career so far?

Sumrah: Meeting my lovelies (fans) in person! Every time I go back to Malaysia, I always run into them. It really surprises me at just how often I would be able to meet someone who got to know about me from YouTube. I even had a meet-up back in 2018 where I got to meet more of my lovelies. They brought gifts, we took pictures, and got to know each other a little more. Being able to meet the people who have supported me in person is really heartwarming. They are the loveliest!

What would you say is the best part about your career?

Sumrah: I love it when I am able to be a comfort for others. So, when my lovelies tell me that my content has been a source of comfort to them, it brings me so much joy. I like to spread positivity, and make others smile, because the world could always do with a little bit of kindness and I want to be one of the ones that can help spread kindness!

Before we end, tell us about something interesting that you did growing up!

Sumrah: Well, my family and I travelled to Malaysia by road from the UK when I was 13 years old! We went through 27 countries along our journey and that was a different travelling experience for me. It was definitely fun and I was happy to be able to share this memory with my family!
