Shaff | Get To Know WILD Talents
Hey Shaff, it’s good to finally be able to talk to you! But first, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Shaff: Hi, I’m Shaff and I’m from Malaysia. I write songs, poems and post covers on my YouTube channel. I also do fun content on TikTok with a British accent, which usually has people entertained! These days, I have been trying to focus mainly on songwriting and producing.
What does a typical day in your week look like?
Shaff: I’m actually doing an internship right now so my days are pretty packed from 11am to 6pm on weekdays. I’m interning for a music production company, so I would say that it isn’t as bad!
I usually start creating content on the weekends. I’ll record a tutorial, write a song or even do a cover and post it online during the weekend. Because most of my creative process happens at night, Fridays and Saturdays are usually when I pull all nighters. My days go by pretty quickly but I’m always using the time I have wisely to create content for my audience!
Who is/was your inspiration for starting your career?
Shaff: Well, growing up, I was always the kid who loved music. I would have to say that Taylor Swift was my biggest inspiration in starting my career. The fact that she can write her own songs and turn it into a story (with chapters) that people listen to and can relate to is something that I hope I can accomplish with my skills as well.
What is your most memorable memory of your career so far?
Shaff: It would have to be hitting 1 million views for the songs that I wrote and put up on Twitter. It’s an insane amount of views that I got for something that I didn’t even put much thought into before posting it, but it definitely made me realise that people actually appreciate what I do!
What would you say is the best part of your career?
Shaff: The best part of my career is that I love what I do, and the people closest to me love it just as much as well. I’ve been able to meet so many incredible people along the way and have been able to become part of many amazing communities, all because of something I am passionate about. Songwriting, in general, has shaped me into a much more creative and mature person. So I would say that everything about my career is great!
Please give us a fun fact about yourself!
Shaff: I started joining the choir when I was 6 years old back in Netherthorpe Primary School, Sheffield and I got the opportunity to perform in front of big audiences and in the Sheffield Arena! I also started writing poetry at the age of 5!
