Melodi Flack | Get To Know WILD Talents
Melodi: Hello :) My name is Melodi, and I’m a half-Korean, half-American content creator from Southern California. Content creation and modeling has been a steady part of my life for the last 5 years, but I also am an English-teacher and have had random jobs to add to my belt of life experiences, such as working for a digital agency based in San Francisco and being a Lyft / Uber driver. Now that I’ve identified my passion for mental health, I’m dedicating my life to just that — stepping up as an advocate for mental health and working towards a career in therapy.
Give us a little fun fact about yourself!
Melodi: An interesting fact about me, I wrote one of my undergraduate college essays about how I can bark like a dog! Hahaha, I wanted to “stand out”… and somehow I was accepted into the honors program at UC Irvine — forever grateful they didn’t think I was weird. Zot zot zot!
Tell us more about a typical day in your week.
Melodi: Because my life is pretty spontaneous and unstructured at times, my day-to-day never really looks quite the same. I do spend a lot of time on my phone or laptop because content creation and online tutoring via Zoom require them. The one thing I can say that happens every single day is skincare. That is an absolute must.
What was it that got you started on your career as a model and content creator?
Melodi: My career in modeling and content creation started off just for fun… and, to be honest, it is still hard to take it seriously. I miss the days when online self-expression was still just a hobby, but adulting has led me to where I am today.
You also mentioned your passion for advocating about mental health, why is that?
Melodi: Why I’ve decided to step into the psychology field, I would credit, first, my father, and then the rest of the world. I lost my father to mental illness at a young age, so I’ve spent a lot of time dwelling on how to help the global community with their mental needs. I’m very grateful to the people I’ve met in my life who constantly bring me up and believe in me. I would like to provide the same validation and support to those who have yet to receive it.
What has been your most memorable part of your career, so far?
Melodi: Because I am in-between careers at the moment, I will share two.
The most memorable moment of my modeling career is most likely being on set for an LG commercial. Realizing that something that started just for fun had taken me so far was rather amazing, and I was proud of myself. Stepping my feet into the world of mental health service has only just begun; I am still but a student, and may forever be. However, launching a mental-wellness discord, “Starfish”, and watching the community grow and provide support for those who needed it has been heart-warming.

What would you say is the best part about your career?
Melodi: The best part about the content creation world has been connecting with others. I am absolutely blown away by all the talent and individuality that exists on this planet. Had I stayed in a more conservative career, I would have never been able to expand my understanding of people in the way that I have. Being an English teacher, an experience with which I keep more private for the sake of my young students, is rewarding because children are precious and absorb information so quickly.
